Does your family support your dream? Your business? Do they believe in what you’re doing?
“A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in his own house.” Mark 6:4
I read this today in my Bible, and it took me back to when I first started my business and my friends and family were so skeptical. It hurt when my some of my sisters got irritated with me or suspicious when I’d talk about my business… like I was trying to sell them… when really, I was simply very excited.
When we’re doing something different, it’s natural to think that the first people who will suppport us are from our own family.
Unfortunately, that’s not always the case… often it’s the opposite.
They warn us, because they don’t want us to be disappointed. They pat our backs and then move on to the next thing. Maybe they think we’re “drinking the koolaid.” Maybe they really think we just can’t do it.
This isn’t always the case, but if you’re struggling in the belief area… hang in there… there’s hope! Just keep doing what you’re doing, be consistent and know that just because our family and close friends aren’t jumping on board right away, it doesn’t mean we can’t be successful.
Just look at Jesus. Even the Son of God wasn’t honored in his own home.
So we have to keep on keeping on. We need to find the believers and dreamers and surround ourselves with them. Fill our minds with positivity. Pray. Ask for grace. And never give up!
And of course…
Always dare to dream! Live fearlessly!
You’ve got this!
