It’s the Little Things

christmasIMAGINE! You’re up late at a company party, come home to give in to your stinkerbutts to watch Rocky V as a family. Go to bed after midnight….

Then… EARLY in the morning, you suddenly wake up to have 5 sets of eyes on you… BEGGING you to get out of bed… (6 is already snuggling in) and all you can think is I NEED COFFEEEEEE!!!! LOL

You see, today is TWICE special! Every year on the feast of St. Nicholas, he comes at night, sneaks in while we’re all snoring away and leaves a little treat and an ornament for all the kiddos in the shoes they have set out.

So all they wanted was to go downstairs and check out the treats!

It’s twice special, because our little Nichole was named after St. Nick, and we get to celebrate her today :)))

I have to admit, sleeping in would have been GREAT! Just telling them to go down and see what he left for them… but then we would have missed out. Missed out on the squeals from “the littles” (what we call our two littlest girls)… missed out on the excitement of dumping the shoes out and seeing who got what.

It’s so important to grab any opportunity we can to love on our babies and show them that they are indeed important. It sets them up to have that security and self-esteem as they grow. Helps them to resist that peer pressure and be their own person down the line.

I already see the benefits in my teen and pre-teens… it’s amazing how the little sacrifices we make, over the years, add up, and you end up with amazing young men and woman.
