Never Say Never!

never say neverA year ago, when I was pregnant, tired, and feeling very encumbered, my friend Jatana, the reigning Mrs. Virginia, told me that in 2016 it would be my turn to run for the title.

I honestly laughed!!! Thinking… There is no way I’d even THINK about it. And again when I was approached about running a couple months ago, I laughed… again… NO WAY.

Thinking:

💥 I’m too old!
💥 I just had a baby.
💥 I have SIX kids.
💥 I “ain’t got” time for that!
💥 Don’t have the cash to burn.
💥 I have a book to finish writing by the end of February!
💥 5 kids in soccer starting around pageant time.
💥 Did I mention 6 KIDS???

But then I started to think… WHY NOT? What a better way than this to spread my message on living fearlessly? On letting go of the fear. On being BOLD! STRONG! And FEARLESS!!!!

I used to live my life and make decisions based on what I THOUGHT others would think. I’ll never forget that morning, just over two years ago when I was lying in bed depressed, not wanting to get up… so upset about some friendships gone wrong and thinking… I don’t WANT to care about what others think!!! I felt stuck in this mindset.

I was TIRED of being afraid to be me. Of being afraid of others and their opinions!!! So a quote shared to me by one of my mentors came to mind…

“If you WANT something different, you have to DO something different.”

That’s the day I started “DOING” something different. THAT is the day my life began to radically change. THAT is the day I began to let go of the fear.

Over the next few months, as we make our way to April and this pageant, I’ll share little pieces of my story with you, in hopes that you too can let go of the fear and begin to love fully, dream big and start to inspire those around you!!!
